Germany’s Federal Minister of Food, Cem Özdemir, joined the Sarah Wiener Foundation and BARMER at We are Family’s offices in Stuttgart to support the 'I can cook!' initiative, which aims to provide around two million children with the basic knowledge for a healthy diet by 2026. 

Since it was founded in 2015, 1.4 million children have been supported by the scheme which is part of Germany's largest initiative to imbed practical nutrition education within daycares and primary schools across the country. 

As well as training educators and teachers to become ambassadors, the mission for ‘I can cook!’ is to introduce as many children as possible to cooking, so they can learn how to eat well, healthily and sustainably throughout their lives; aligning perfectly with the Federal Government's recently presented nutrition strategy which looks to prioritising healthy nutrition.
